Yeomanry House, Bloomsbury

Yeomanry House on Handel Street is a purpose-built military drill hall completed in 1913. Its architectural design is unusually functional because it features two distinct interior halls, a layout specifically intended to accommodate two different types of military units simultaneously. When it opened, one hall functioned as a headquarters for infantry, while the other served as a base for artillery. This dual-hall structure allowed the building to serve as a versatile hub for London reserve forces during the intense mobilization period at the start of the First World War.
