Jewel Tower

The Jewel Tower stands as a rugged survivor from the medieval Palace of Westminster. King Edward the Third commissioned its construction in the thirteen sixties to house his personal treasury, including fine gold and silver plate. He directed his master mason, Henry Yevele, to design the structure with thick stone walls and a defensive moat to keep the royal valuables safe from both thieves and fires.
