Lloyd Square

Lloyd Square occupies land that in the Middle Ages was known as the Bull in the Pound. This site served as a public house of low repute, famously acting as a frequent haunt for thieves and other criminal elements in the local area. By the early nineteenth century, the notorious tavern was replaced by the Union tavern, which featured pleasant tea gardens in its rear, marking a significant shift in the character of the site.
