London Transport Museum

The building housing the London Transport Museum served a entirely different purpose for its first century. Designed by architect William Rogers in eighteen seventy-one, this elegant iron and glass structure functioned as the heart of London’s wholesale flower trade. Traders gathered here daily, except on Christmas, to distribute blooms across the city. It remained a floral hub until the industry relocated to Nine Elms in the nineteen seventies, eventually allowing the building to be repurposed for its current role in preserving the history of how Londoners move.
