Lyceum Theatre

The Lyceum Theatre has a history that stretches back to seventeen sixty-five, though it functioned as a society exhibition space for art long before it became a stage. Its most famous tenant was the nineteenth century theatre manager Henry Irving, who utilized the building to elevate the status of actors in England. During this era, Irving hired a man named Bram Stoker to manage the business side of the theatre. While Stoker worked within these walls, he drew inspiration from Irving's commanding personality to create the titular character for his masterpiece, the novel Dracula.
