Novello Theatre

The Novello Theatre was built as part of a massive civic project in the early twentieth century that demolished slum housing to create the Aldwych thoroughfare. It opened in 1905 as the Waldorf Theatre and was designed as a twin to the Aldwych Theatre located at the other end of the block. Both structures were crafted by the prolific architect W. G. R. Sprague, who made them identical on the outside to frame the Waldorf Hilton hotel that sits between them.
