Rules, located on Maiden Lane, holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously operating restaurant in London. It first opened its doors in 1798 when Thomas Rule established it as a humble oyster bar catering to the bustling market traders of Covent Garden. Over the course of more than two centuries, it has witnessed the reigns of nine British monarchs while remaining remarkably anchored in its original location.
