Pushkin House serves as an independent cultural center located in a historic townhouse on Bloomsbury Square. It occupies a building designed in the seventeen forties by the architect Henry Flitcroft, a man more widely celebrated for his monumental work on the grand stately home of Woburn Abbey. While Flitcroft is famous for his massive commissions, he used a restrained Palladian style for this property, featuring a slender front door and delicate attendant windows. The structure provides a refined setting for its current role, which stands in contrast to the building's more modest original purpose.
