The building before you began construction in nineteen thirteen as a grand picture palace, but the First World War intervened. Before it ever screened a film, the site served a different purpose entirely: it was repurposed into a factory to manufacture aircraft parts. Once the conflict ended, it functioned as a labor exchange for demobilized soldiers before finally opening its doors to the public as the King's Cross Cinema in nineteen twenty.
