Berlin Wall segment

The slab of concrete standing before you is a genuine piece of the barrier that once split a city and an ideology. It was pulled from the area near the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin after the wall began to fall in late 1989. The Imperial War Museum acquired this specific fragment in January 1991 to preserve a physical reminder of the Cold War. If you look closely at the surface, you can still see the internal steel rods that reinforced the concrete, holding the structure together while it served its role as an impenetrable border.
