Wellington Arch

You are approaching the Wellington Arch, a structure that holds a surprisingly quirky history behind its grand, triumphal appearance. While it now serves as a memorial, it spent much of its life as a functional workspace rather than a purely ceremonial monument. In the mid-twentieth century, the arch famously housed the smallest police station in all of London. The officers stationed inside even kept a pet cat named Snooks to keep them company while they monitored the busy traffic of Hyde Park Corner.
