Paddington Bear Statue

The bronze statue of Paddington Bear sits on Platform One, exactly where the fictional bear was first discovered by the Brown family after his long journey from Peru. Sculptor Marcus Cornish designed this life-sized figure to capture the precise moment from Michael Bond’s original books, complete with the bear perched on his battered suitcase and wearing a tag that asks people to look after him. Author Michael Bond unveiled the piece in February 2000 to solidify the station's role as the definitive home for his creation. While the statue has been moved to different spots around the station for various maintenance projects over the years, it always returns to its rightful place beneath the station clock.
