Piccadilly Theatre

The Piccadilly Theatre opened in nineteen twenty-eight on a site that previously held derelict stables. Its original promotional brochure claimed that if all the bricks used in its construction were laid in a straight line, they would reach from London to Paris. Architects Bertie Crewe and Edward Stone designed the building with a modest facade that hid a grand, three-level art deco interior featuring sage green and silver tones. When it first opened, the auditorium included a massive four-ton crystal lustre chandelier containing two hundred individual lamps.
