His Majesty's Theatre

cultural

The site of His Majesty's Theatre has hosted performances for over three hundred years, beginning with a venue opened in seventeen oh five by the architect John Vanbrugh. This original structure functioned as an opera house, and George Frideric Handel premiered more than twenty-five of his operas here during the early eighteenth century. The current building, which is the fourth on this specific spot, dates back to eighteen ninety-seven and stands as a testament to the long-standing theatrical heritage of the Haymarket.
