Victoria Palace Theatre

The Victoria Palace Theatre is the final playhouse designed by the legendary theatre architect Frank Matcham. He completed the plans for this building in nineteen eleven, just before his retirement, leaving behind a signature style that defined Edwardian entertainment venues across Britain. The building replaced a succession of earlier music halls that had stood on this same site since eighteen thirty-two, evolving from a modest concert room above a set of stables into the grand, Baroque-style theatre you see today.
