The Florence Nightingale Museum stands on the grounds of Saint Thomas Hospital, a location of immense significance to the history of healthcare. In eighteen sixty, four years after her service in the Crimean War, Florence Nightingale established the first professional training school for nurses here. This site is the exact place where her radical vision for nursing as a respectable and scientific profession was put into practice. The museum itself grew from a collection of personal objects and artifacts, known as Nightingale, which were originally used as teaching tools for the first generations of trainee nurses at this hospital.
