The bronze statue of Louis Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, stands near Horse Guards Road on a site known as Mountbatten Green. Unveiled by Queen Elizabeth the Second in 1983, the figure depicts the Admiral in his naval uniform, complete with the medals of the Order of the Garter and the Order of Merit. He is shown holding a pair of binoculars in his right hand, reflecting his long and prominent career as a senior naval officer and the final Viceroy of India.
