Lovers Point Park

park garden

Lovers Point Park sits on a rocky granite promontory that juts further into the Monterey Bay than any other point in Pacific Grove. The name originates from a mistranslation of a nineteenth-century map, which labeled the area Lovers of Jesus Point because of the religious retreats held here. By the nineteen hundreds, the name shortened to Lovers Point, and the park became the city's primary recreation spot. Local swimmers still gather at the small, sheltered beach on the south side every morning.
