The Casa Del Prado features a facade covered in ornate, wedding-cake plaster carvings that set it apart from the smoother buildings nearby. This structure is a recreation of the original Varied Industries and Food Products Building from the nineteen fifteen Panama-California Exposition. Richard Requa designed this version in the nineteen seventies to match the intense, Churrigueresque style of the early twentieth century. Sculptor Raul Coronel spent months hand-carving the decorative details, replicating the intricate work that once drew crowds to this park.
