House of Hospitality

The House of Hospitality bears a distinct, ornate facade covered in elaborate carvings, modeled after the Plateresque style of sixteenth-century Spain. It serves as the primary information hub for Balboa Park, but its structure dates back to the nineteen fifteen Panama-California Exposition. During that event, it housed the Foreign Arts Building. In the nineteen thirties, the building was reconstructed using fireproof materials, a change prompted by the concern that the original plaster structure might not survive the passage of time.
