The collection inside this building began with a bizarre stroke of luck in nineteen thirty-three. Eleven-year-old Edward Zelinsky entered a bingo contest at a local theater and won five quarts of motor oil as the grand prize. He sold the oil to his piano teacher for seventy-five cents and used that money to purchase his first coin-operated game. That single machine sparked a lifetime obsession, eventually growing into one of the world's largest privately owned collections of vintage mechanical amusement devices.
