Rincon Place

park garden

Rincon Place occupies a steep, narrow sliver of land tucked against the base of the Bay Bridge approach. While the surrounding neighborhood grew into a dense district of high-rise apartments, this small patch of ground preserves a different scale. In nineteen thirty-four, city planners cleared away the remaining Victorian cottages here to make room for the bridge structure. They left this sliver behind, creating a quiet transition between the heavy concrete of the freeway and the residential streets of Rincon Hill.
