Insect Zoo

The Insect Zoo stands as a unique fixture within the San Francisco Zoo, located in the Lakeshore district. When it first opened its doors in 1979, it was one of the very first exhibits of its kind in the entire world. While zoo management initially intended the display to be a temporary experiment, its unexpected popularity quickly secured its status as a permanent home for spiders, ants, centipedes, and various other arthropods.
