The Marina Airfield Historical Marker stands on what was once the center of early twentieth-century aviation excitement. This site originated as a temporary landing field for the nineteen fifteen Panama-Pacific International Exposition, a massive world fair that celebrated the city's recovery from the nineteen zero six earthquake. During the exposition, the field hosted daily flight demonstrations that captivated millions of visitors who were witnessing the miracle of powered flight for the very first time.
