Lovers Lane stands as the oldest foot trail in the Presidio. In the late nineteenth century, it served as a vital, direct artery for soldiers stationed here to reach the city. These men walked this path to catch a trolley line that carried them toward their sweethearts and families living in the warmer, sunnier parts of San Francisco.
