Marshall Field Jr Mansion

historic

The Marshall Field Junior Mansion in the Prairie District features a limestone facade topped by a distinct, steeply pitched roofline punctuated by decorative dormers. Built in nineteen oh two, the home served as the residence for the heir to the Marshall Field department store fortune. His life ended abruptly inside this house in nineteen oh six after a gunshot wound under circumstances that remain a mystery. The tragedy remains the defining moment of the mansion's history, casting a long shadow over the elegant stone structure.
