The William W. Kimball House features a distinctive limestone facade and a soaring, rounded tower that catches the light differently than the surrounding brick homes. Built in eighteen ninety-two for the wealthy piano manufacturer, it served as a grand residence when the Prairie District was home to Chicago's industrial elite. When the Kimball family eventually moved out, the house escaped the demolition that claimed many of its neighbors, repurposed instead to hold a private club for city organists and musicians for many decades.
