Le Petit Versailles

Le Petit Versailles sits on a twenty-by-sixty-foot plot that previously functioned as an illegal auto body chop shop. In 1996, artists Peter Cramer and Jack Waters transformed this derelict space into a vibrant garden and open-air performance venue. Their work turned a site of urban decay into a sanctuary for queer art, experimental theater, and community activism. The garden serves as a dedicated home for their nonprofit organization, Allied Productions, which has spent decades supporting independent artists. A narrow, winding brick path guides visitors through the foliage, leading to a central wooden stage where filmmakers, musicians, and performers frequently present new work.
