Greenpoint View

The name Greenpoint originates from a literal geographical feature noticed by sailors traveling the East River. As they passed the northern tip of this peninsula, they saw a lush, grassy bluff of land that appeared as a distinct green point against the water. This verdant landscape was once an agricultural expanse for Dutch settlers and the indigenous Lenape people, far removed from the dense urban surroundings you see today.
