The Museum at FIT

The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology is the only museum in New York City dedicated exclusively to the art of fashion. It began in nineteen sixty-nine as the Design Laboratory, a resource meant to serve as a library of inspiration for fashion students and working designers. It originally relied on collections on long-term loan from the Brooklyn Museum before it began building its own expansive archive. Today, it stands as a specialized institution that prioritizes directional, avant-garde pieces that push the boundaries of design history.
