You are approaching Lentol Garden, a nearly acre-sized green space tucked against the busy intersection of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, Meeker Avenue, and Graham Avenue. Long before it was a garden, this land was claimed by the city in nineteen forty-six to make way for the massive construction of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. For decades afterward, the plot sat as an empty, neglected lot that frequently became a site for illegal dumping.
