Frederick Douglass Circle marks the northwest corner of Central Park where the bustling city meets a dedicated space for reflection. For many years, this area was merely a complex and often dangerous traffic intersection. It was not until local residents collaborated with the Central Park Conservancy in the nineteen nineties that the site began its transformation into a formal memorial honoring the famous abolitionist.
