Graffiti Hall of Fame

The Graffiti Hall of Fame sits within the playground of the Jackie Robinson Educational Complex in East Harlem. Community activist Ray Rodriguez, known as Sting Ray, established this site in nineteen eighty to provide local youth with a constructive environment for their craft. At a time when graffiti was frequently dismissed as mere vandalism, he sought to elevate the practice by designating a space where artists could share techniques and develop their skills without fear of arrest. His initiative successfully shifted the focus from simple tags to the large, complex murals that define the site today.
