You are approaching a building at one hundred two West one hundred sixteenth Street that holds a central place in the history of African American Islam. Before it was a mosque, this site functioned as the Lenox Casino, a venue known for its nightlife and dance floor. Following a period of transformation in the mid-twentieth century, the structure was repurposed into a religious space that eventually became a powerful symbol of the legacy of Malcolm X.
