Teatro LATEA

Teatro LATEA, which stands for Latin American Theater Experiment Associates, began in nineteen eighty-two as a collaborative effort by actors from Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay. These founders wanted to provide a dedicated space for Latino artists to share their voices in a neighborhood that was, at the time, struggling with significant urban decay. The group initially operated out of a popular cafe called Rincon Taino, which served as a vital gathering spot for the Latino intelligentsia in New York to showcase new literature, music, and visual art.
