Austrian Cultural Forum New York

The Austrian Cultural Forum New York is a striking architectural anomaly that defies the typical Manhattan skyline. While most buildings in the area conform to standard grids and setbacks, this twenty-four-story tower occupies an incredibly narrow plot of land just twenty-five feet wide. Architect Raimund Abraham won an international competition to design this structure, which serves as a vibrant hub for cultural exchange between Austria and the United States. Its glass and aluminum facade is famously angular, tapering upward in a way that makes the entire building appear to be in a state of suspended motion, like a blade of light cutting through the surrounding masonry.
