Seagram Building

The Seagram Building owes its existence to a twenty-seven-year-old art student named Phyllis Lambert. When her father, the president of the Seagram distillery, shared plans for a mediocre office tower, she sent him a blistering letter from Paris rejecting the design and demanding better. She subsequently took over the project as the director of planning and handpicked the legendary German-born architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe to create a masterpiece.
