Canterbury Hall (New York City)

Canterbury Hall once stood at six hundred sixty-three Broadway, right in the heart of what we now know as NoHo. In the nineteenth century, this building served as a lively and controversial hub for entertainment and political dissent. It gained a reputation for hosting bawdy concerts and was frequently referred to as Mozart Hall by locals. Beyond its stage performances, the venue functioned as a significant meeting place for political forces that stood in opposition to the powerful Tammany Hall organization.
