Parker Building (New York City)

Before you stands the location of a building that once held a prominent place in the city's commercial history, though it no longer exists today. In 1900, the twelve-story Parker Building was completed at this corner of nineteenth street and fourth avenue, now known as Park Avenue South. It was designed as a modern office and loft structure, replacing a previous attraction on this same plot called the Gettysburg Cyclorama. The Cyclorama had been a massive, circular panoramic painting of the famous Civil War battle, drawing large crowds of visitors who stepped inside to stand at the center of the depicted action.
