Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower

The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower is a landmark of architectural mimicry. Completed in 1909, it was explicitly designed to resemble the Campanile of Saint Mark in Venice, Italy. At the time of its construction, the tower rose to seven hundred feet, which briefly secured its status as the tallest building in the world before it was surpassed by the Woolworth Building.
