Art Projects International

Art Projects International has anchored itself in the Tribeca neighborhood since the late nineteen nineties, though its story began a few years earlier in the SoHo art scene. Founded in nineteen ninety three by Jung Lee Sanders, the gallery emerged as a deliberate platform for artists whose voices were often overlooked by the mainstream art establishment of that decade. At a time when many New York galleries maintained a narrow focus, this space intentionally sought out and championed contemporary artists from Asia and its diaspora. By providing a permanent home for these creators, the gallery helped shift the conversation to ensure these works were seen as central to the contemporary art world rather than relegated to the sidelines.
