Elliot Alderson - Mr Robot Apartments

landmark

You are standing in front of two hundred seventeen East Broadway. In the world of the television series Mr. Robot, this modest building serves as the home of the brilliant and troubled hacker Elliot Alderson. The show’s production team carefully chose this spot in the Two Bridges neighborhood to ground the series in a gritty, hyper-real version of New York City that felt lived-in and authentic to Elliot's isolated life. When filming, the production crew added specific details to the storefront below the apartment, such as signage for a shuttered dumpling shop. These small, tactile touches were meant to reflect the environment of a character who viewed the world through the lens of digital security and corporate surveillance. While the building looks largely as it does in the show, the exterior has seen its own real-world history, including being used as a filming location for the offices of the villain Norman Osborn in the original Spider-Man film long before Elliot Alderson resided here on screen.
