Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre

The Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre sits beneath the headland of Burleigh Heads, marked by a vivid mural of a whale on its exterior wall. It serves as the region's only dedicated Aboriginal cultural center, owned and operated by the local Yugambeh people. For the Yugambeh, this headland is Jellurgal, a place created by the ancestral being Jabreen. He rested here after shaping the land, using the nearby rocky outcrops to cook his meals, leaving behind the formations visible along the coastline today.
