Brockton Point Lighthouse

The Brockton Point Lighthouse features a distinctive white concrete tower capped with a small, red-trimmed lantern room. Originally built in nineteen fourteen to replace a much smaller wooden structure, it sits on a jagged outcropping of Burrard Inlet. When the light was first automated in nineteen eighty-four, the lighthouse keeper, Arthur Cowie, packed his bags after decades of service. He stayed until the very last moment, ensuring the beacon continued to guide ships safely through the First Narrows until the machines took over.
