Girl in Wetsuit

A bronze girl in a wetsuit, complete with fins and a mask pushed up on her forehead, sits perched on a submerged rock in the harbor waters. Eleanor Milne sculpted this figure in nineteen seventy-two, intending it as a counterpart to the famous Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen. When the original sculpture was damaged by a boat propeller, the city replaced it with a fiberglass cast while the bronze version moved to a safe location at the Vancouver Aquarium.
