Brahe Field

Brahe Field is a patch of green tucked into the stone density of Kallio. Its name honors Per Brahe, a seventeenth century governor general who founded many Finnish cities. During the winter, the grass vanishes under a thick sheet of ice, turning the entire area into a public skating rink. Decades ago, this field served as a gritty training ground for local football clubs, but today the space remains defined by that seasonal shift between the summer turf and the winter frost.
