Helsinki Congress Paasitorni

The Paasitorni building is a massive, circular granite tower anchored on the edge of the Elaintarhanlahti bay. Originally built in nineteen oh eight as the Helsinki Workers House, it served as a hub for the city's labor movement. During the Finnish Civil War, Red Guard fighters occupied the tower, leaving bullet holes in the granite walls that remain visible today. It functioned as a clubhouse and political headquarters, surviving decades of turmoil to eventually become a modern meeting and congress center.
