Kallio church

The Kallio church rises high above the Helsinki skyline, anchored by a massive granite tower that looms over the surrounding neighborhood. Architect Lars Sonck designed the structure in the early twentieth century, finishing it in nineteen twelve. Its sharp, straight lines define the National Romantic style, contrasting with the soft, rolling hills of the area. During the Winter War, the church bells famously rang to signal air raids, serving as a protective voice for a city under threat from the sky.
