Hakaniemi Market Square

The Hakaniemi Market Square sits at the edge of the water, defined by a long, red-brick market hall that stretches across its northern side. This hall opened in nineteen fourteen to move street vendors into a permanent space. During the Second World War, the square served as a critical hub for food distribution when supplies were tight. Today, the square remains a place where traders set up open-air stalls every morning, selling everything from seasonal berries to fresh, warm pastries.
