The facade of Bouillon Julien features a deep, dark green woodwork frame adorned with gold-leaf lettering and ornate, flowing floral patterns. Inside, the ceiling remains covered in its original Belle Epoque mirrors and intricate plasterwork from nineteen oh six. Edouard Fournier opened this dining hall to serve working-class Parisians affordable, hearty meals in a setting that mimicked the luxury of high-end restaurants. It survived multiple changes in ownership and threats of demolition, preserved today exactly as its first customers experienced it.
